July News

Wow, driest July in history and really warmer than most July’s, as well. It sure is causing issues on properties all over Central Oregon. With the earlier heat in May & June the weeds have been a real challenge. Specialty Spray is reporting much difficulty getting rid of the black medic (low growing yellow flowered weed in the grass) in the lawns and we can confirm this as well.

Because of the extra warm/dry conditions we have been skipping lawns to avoid any unnecessary stress on some of the drier spots. Although we make less money by not mowing this really does have a positive effect on the grass, I hope the less than perfect look does not cause too much concern.

We’ll be making the August weed applications in the next week or 2 and trying to reduce dry spots as much as possible without busting your water budget. Some dryness is certainly expected as the heat continues. If you have any specific concerns please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail.

Enjoy the County Fair, State Fair, Cascade Lakes Relay (this weekend, Silver Lake to Bend, 236 mile running relay, the longest in the U.S.) and the last month before SCHOOL starts.
